Rabies Fun Run!?!?!?!?

I went over to my parents' house tonight to help out with some grunt work for an ad campaign my Dad put together. As you can see, the ad is for an oral rabies vaccine for wild animals. My Dad designed the poster I am showcasing. I think we rolled up close to 500 posters tonight, and a lot of assembly remains to be done. Good luck, guys!

Finished!

Yep, those ladies on our wall are naked. But, it's art (apparently) -- a Mr. Gustav Klimt. Hopefully this doesn't qualify as adult content!

Apple Streusal Pie

This is what I did while John painted. The jury is still out as to whether it's any good -- we haven't cut into it yet!
Here's John painting the tray ceiling in our bedroom. He started and finished this project yesterday...well, technically I guess he finished today since it was like 1 a.m. :) I'll post photos of the finished project once we've cleaned up.

2 + 1

It got up to like 60 degrees the other day, so John opened up the windows. Here are all three of our kitties enjoying the fresh air.

Steak Salad

This is a meal that John and I seem to equally enjoy. We grill a flat iron steak (if you haven't tried this relatively new cut, you should -- it comes at a good price and is delicious!), then add to salad with whatever fixings you like. On this night, we ate our salads with multi-grain bread dipped in hot olive oil seasoned with minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Plus, it only takes like 20 min!

Cookies for the sisters

These are some V-day cookies I made and sent to my sister Jessy and John's sister Lucia. They're sandwich cookies with strawberry and chocolate frosting inside. I hope they arrived to Iowa City and Columbus in tact and not too frozen!

V-Day Dinner

I made baby-back ribs and haystacks for our Valentine's Day dinner. The ribs turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself -- and they are super easy to make -- cook ribs in boiling water for 45 min, marinate in bbq sauce for a few hours, bake at 250 F for 3 hours, and broil for 10 min. The meat was literally falling off the bone!

More home improvements!

Our New Blue Bedroom!

John has been working REALLY hard lately at home improvements. In the last 2-ish weeks, he has painted our bedroom and bathroom and installed closet organizational shelves, 2 new light fixtures in our closet which put out a ton more light, pretty hanging lights in our kitchen, and light switch covers all over. John really has a talent for this type of thing, and I consider myself very fortunate that he (1) takes such an interest and (2) is capable of executing his ideas, usually at a whirlwind pace.

2.5" of snow on 2/12!

Around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 2/12, it started snowing, hard! These photos were taken after it had been snowing for only 2 or so hours! It all melted by the following day, but it sure was pretty while it lasted.

Chick-Fil-A

My best friend Katie and I found our way to the Cumming Chick-Fil-A for two #1's and a lot of catching up today. We've been frequenting this particular Chick-Fil-A since we were 16, so we've discussed everything from high school crushes to current matters in these booths.

3-D Goggles On!

John and I went to see Avators this weekend, our first 3-D movie. I would definitely recommend it!

3 Stools, 3 Kitties

On our way to dinner with the neighbors...

Sweater Kitty

Lint roller anyone?

My Parents on a Sunday Afternoon

Iowa City, SchmIowa City.

Jessy was on break from her Masters program at University of Iowa from December 18-January 15th. It was soooooooo great to have her home! And, we somehow managed to secure her a job as a legal assistant at my law firm for the past two weeks, which increased our hang-out time by a good 80 hours. Of course, the entire law firm loved her, which means the opportunity for summer employment is probably hers for the taking.

So, Jessy returns to Iowa City tomorrow morning. For some reason, I miss her more now that she's in school than I did when I was the one leaving her to go back to NY for law school. Anyway, I hope she's looking forward to a new semester and that I get to visit her there soon!
Here's Johnny. He is likely preparing to play one of his racing games on the PS3, which he loves.

From the client's perspective

So this is me at my desk. Not to worry, I look much more serious when confronted with a legal issue...
